The Jets needed their special teams to pull off a 6-2 win in Frankford Saturday night scoring 2 shorthanded goals alongside 2 power play goals.
Frankford opened the scoring in the first at 8:22 by Jacob Tinney.
The Jets would roar back with 6 unanswered goals.
Matt Donovan scored with a high snapshot that beat Huskies’ goalie Keith Vanhome high blocker side, set up by Josh Kudo and Boden White at 10:45 of the first.
Special teams took over for the Jets from there as Captain Zac McMahon tallied on a one timer by a perfect set up by Eric Russell, another helper to defense partner Jack Wiley to make it 2-1 to end the first.
The visitors would make it 3-1 on a rebound as Owen Bauder scored from a point shot from Rowan Peirson-Clark that beat Tinney between the legs. Also drawing an assist on the goal was Nolan Dawson.
With only 8 seconds left in the period rookie Caelan Baron while killing a 5-3 Penalty would take the puck end to end and make a nice move to beat the Huskies goalie to make it 4-1 going into the third.
The Jets penalty kill units were called upon quite often in the second having to kill off 6 consecutive minors.
Once again Amherstview special teams scored their second shorthanded goal of the night this time at :29 seconds of the start of the third at rookie Boden White scored on a rebound from Josh Kudo picking up his second assist of the night.
Not 3 minutes later Eric Russell would pick up his own rebound and seal the win.
Frankford Riley Grimmon would beat 15 years old rookie Sam Closs who improved to 2-0 with a goal at 3:4.
The Jets now post a record of 3-1 and return home for a rematch against Napanee Sunday night.
